Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was the first song by Elton John that really captured my imagination. It also wound up being the first ever 45 single I bought, with gift money from my uncle. It wasn't much later I decided to return to piano lessons after having quit the previous year, thanks to what I was hearing from this artist, Elton John starting with this piece. Here is a fairly recent performance of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road I shared in Estes Park, Colorado shortly after having released my own cover of it on my Grey Havens CD.
